As an Independent Living Services (ILS) and Supported Living Services (SLS) trainer for UP-LIFT, you can join a dynamic team to change the world, one person at a time. In this exciting position, the ILS/SLS trainer will work on a 1:1 basis with an inspiring and unique client with a developmental disability. Part time (16-30 hours per week) and full time (31-40+ hours per week) positions are available.

The ideal candidate is someone who is patient, has an open mind, is flexible and, understands that growth comes from every day learning experiences.

Responsibility

Supporting clients with personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene, bathing and grooming if needed
Scheduling and assisting clients to attend appointments and outings
Fostering positive relationships between clients and people in their communities
Ensuring client safety and maintaining a safe environment
Report client progress by observing and documenting support given to the client
Assisting client with self-administration of medications after proper training
Documenting and reporting any changes in client’s health status or condition
Performing home management functions such as laundry and cleaning
Planning meals, preparing and serving food/meals and clean-up

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience working in a caregiver role or as a direct service provider to adults with disabilities OR familiarity with health care, 1:1 service or supporting the success of people with developmental disabilities.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required
  • Complete a criminal background check and DMV driving record check
  • Valid Driver’s license
